Customer Performance Reviews:
By Ethan Yazzie-Mintz - Actor (Jake)
GIFTED is a wonderful, sweet, touching, and dramatic play - great for actors and great for audiences. One set, seven characters, multiple generations. The play touches on themes of culture, heritage, family, generational relationships, entertainment and reality, love and loss, and life and death. Each character has dramatic moments and comedic moments, all woven together to tell this heartwarming story of a young teenager figuring out who he is and what he wants, as the characters around him learn to do the same over the course of the play. It is a treat for actors - an ensemble play with wonderful individual moments.

With GIFTED, Carrie Printz has woven together a story about a biracial family that appeals to both adults and older kids alike, blending humor and poignancy along with insights about human nature and the complicated world families face today. Audiences laughed heartily and were truly moved by this play that celebrates the cultural diversity of modern life. Not only were they entertained, but many left discussing the issues raised, which is the goal of all good theater. GIFTED is a play that will touch a broad audience with its humor and warmth.

"Gifted," a wisely woven comedy, is getting a deserved world premiere at Edge Theatre. Winner of the Lakewood theater company's On the Edge Festival of New Plays.

By Rajat Agarwal - Actor (Daya)
I had a great time being a part of GIFTED, the first live stage play I have ever done. As a newbie, Daya was a great role to play since it allowed me to come onto stage during certain brief parts but only having to interact with one other actor . This made it easier to memorize my lines and then focus on stage presence instead. I found Daya to be a positive, wise and reflective character, and that made playing him even more enjoyable. All my friends who came to watch the play really enjoyed it. What they liked about GIFTED is that it easy to follow and laugh at while also being smart with its insights about a multicultural family finding its way after a tragedy. I think you find that running GIFTED in your theater will be a blast both for the performers and the audience.

GIFTED is a rare play that successfully presents racial, family and cultural dynamics in a context that is accessible to actors and audiences of all ages. Although some of the subject matter is thought provoking, Ms. Printz is able to wrap it up in a big blanket of love, laughter and colorful characters. Everyone experiences a warm feeling by the play’s conclusion. Each night we would look out and see an audience full of smiles, and that made this show a truly rewarding experience.
