| | | Leon Katz is Professor Emeritus of Drama at Yale University, and is currently the Frey Distinguished Professor of Dramatic Art at the University of North Carolina. At Yale, he was co-chairman of the Department of Dramaturgy and Dramatic Criticism, and in a long teaching career, has taught at more than a dozen universities in America and in Europe.\r\n\r\nHe has written many original plays, translations and adaptations, among them The Three Cuckolds (shown internationally in over 400 productions), its sequel The Son of Arlecchino, The Greek Myths, The Making of Americans (an opera based on Gertrude Stein's monumental novel, with composer Al Carmines), Dracula/Sabbat (a ritual play of the Sixties), and Dubya and the Gang of Seven (a political musical with composer Clifford Tasner.) A collection of his plays is published under the title, Midnight Plays. In 2004, a four-volume anthology of Classical Monologues from Aeschylus to Bernard Shaw, consisting of 500 monologues, was published by Applause Books.
