| | | | | Synopsis | | Buford T. Wagspeter is a man unlucky in love and dreadfully unlucky in business. Deeply in debt to his mobster landlord and close to losing a few fingers over the deal, Buford begs his landlord (and rather feisty friends) to spare his tiny fingers and promises he’ll do “anything!” With the words, “I’ll do anything,” Buford’s luckless life is now charmingly lucky. The Bottachi boys exit happily with rent in hand and Buford relaxes on the couch with everything still attached. Only now he is indebted to a clan of magical gnomes who generously granted him his every wish a few minutes ago. In turn, the gnomes send Buford to the Blue Hour Nightclub where up-and-coming magicians like Micky Kowalski get their start. Unfortunately, Micky is an inept magician and it’s Buford’s responsibility to get Micky’s name up in lights. After introductions, Micky hires Buford to be her new assistant and after a last-minute cancellation, the duo is invited to headline the late show.
